Apple Has More Cash On Hand Than All These Countries

As such, companies have spent much of the economic recovery building up their balance sheets with mountains of cash. "Amid a world of uncertainty, one thing is without question: Most U.S. corporations have plenty of capital at their disposal," said U.S. Trust's Joseph Quinlan. "Indeed, capital is in abundance among America's largest nonfinancial companies, with Moody's noting that U.S. firms were sitting on some $1.6 trillion in cash at the end of 2013, a 12% increase from a year ago. The latest figure is nearly double the level of 2008, signaling the extent by which U.S. firms have built out their cash positions over the post-crisis period." Indeed, the cash piles of some of the biggest corporations rivals those of some of the major economies around the world. "Putting that number into perspective, the cash hoard of corporate America (e.g., financials) is greater than the total international reserves of Japan, the second-wealthiest nation in the wo...

Qualcomm Introduces 802.11ac Wi-Fi with Multi-user MIMO to Triple Network and Device Performance and Efficiency

MU-MIMO is a revolutionary new way for Wi-Fi networks to operate. With standard Wi-Fi, clients are served sequentially; during this time, only one device is sending and receiving information, thus only a small portion of network capacity is being used. The accumulation of these sequential events creates a drop in throughput and capacity as more devices join the network. This situation can be further exacerbated when combined with the growing amount of on-demand high resolution video content. MU-MIMO enables simultaneous transmission to groups of clients, making more efficient use of available Wi-Fi network capacity and speeding up transmissions. “Great connectivity is not just about increasing the absolute speed. It’s about making better use of network and airtime efficiency to support the growing number of connected devices, services and applications,” said Dan Rabinovitsj, senior vice president, Qualcomm Atheros, Inc. “After seven years of MU-MIMO development and testing, we’ve gain...

Heartbleed web security bug : how to secure yourself??

The Heartbleed Bug is a serious vulnerability in the popular OpenSSL cryptographic software library. This weakness allows stealing the information protected, under normal conditions, by the SSL/TLS encryption used to secure the Internet. SSL/TLS provides communication security and privacy over the Internet for applications such as web, email, instant messaging (IM) and some virtual private networks (VPNs). The Heartbleed bug allows anyone on the Internet to read the memory of the systems protected by the vulnerable versions of the OpenSSL software. This compromises the secret keys used to identify the service providers and to encrypt the traffic, the names and passwords of the users and the actual content. This allows attackers to eavesdrop on communications, steal data directly from the services and users and to impersonate services and users. image source: http://www.digitaltrends.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/password-cracking-shutterstock.jpg What leaks in practice? What Facebook Knows About You From One WhatsApp Convo - Adi Azira

Finally, there’s a dashboard that confirms your wildest suspicions: WhatsApp knows your name, your location, your interests, and even your political leaning. They can know things about you that you may not, like they if certain people respect your opinion (or don’t for that matter) and what preoccupies your thoughts–whether it’s sex, food, shopping or something a bit more kinky. WhatsApp has become an omniscient gatekeeper, holding data about you, the personal information you write and receive, and can open the floodgates to the world at their own free will. About a month ago it would have been just 450 million people using WhatsApp, but since Facebook acquired it for a whopping $19 billion, WhatsApp could  merge its data  with the social media titan very soon—putting your most intimate details at the mercy of the world’s biggest social media platform with 1.3 billion users and counting. Considering Facebook has over 2 billion connections read more
